Dress Code

Students are expected to conform to reasonable standards in cleanliness, appropriate dress and hair styling. Reasonable standards are defined as presenting an appearance that is conducive to learning and that does not distract from or disrupt the learning situation for others. Students should dress appropriately for normal school participation and avoid calling undue attention to themselves or to some part of their person.


THE FOLLOWING ARE RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES. WE ASK FOR PARENTAL SUPPORT IN OUR ENDEAVOR TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL AND SAFE PLACE OF LEARNING.


NOT ALLOWED:

    Shirts advertising alcoholic beverages or having obscene or questionable printing on them or promoting wrestling or violence. (Examples are Budweiser, violent or gory scenes).
  1. Thong sandals, bare feet, open-toe shoes, clear plastic shoes or steel-toed shoes.

  2. Halter tops or bare midriffs. Shirts should reach the waistline even when the students their hands high overhead.

  3. Short shorts or short skirts. Hemlines should reach fingertips when arms are at rest by the students’ side.

  4. White undershirts. Tank tops/spaghetti straps are permitted in hot weather, but must be of color, not white.

  5. Oversized T-shirts or pants. Pants length should not be long that students are stepping on them. Also, underwear should not be showing. Pants should not have frayed bottoms.
    Clothes should not have any hole or rips in them.

  6. Gang-related paraphernalia or symbols. (Examples are oversized khaki pants, black on black, bandanas, Pendletons, military belts, cutoffs with long, white socks pulled up). Standards for this items may be changed as needed during the school year.

  7. Sunglasses, unless prescribed by a doctor.

  8. Hair nets, dyed or bleached hair (other than the student’s natural color), wild or extreme hairdos.

  9. Excessive makeup or jewelry. Dangling or hoop earrings may not be worn due to safety factors. Students are allowed to wear stud earrings.

  10. Hats, beanies, baseball caps, except on special days, but must be removed while in classrooms or other school buildings.
