Greetings Parents and Families of Moffitt Elementary School,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Rachel Garcia and I am honored to serve as your new principal here at Thomas B. Moffitt Elementary School. I look forward to making a positive impact on every student’s school experience and to partnering with you and the dedicated staff to provide our students with the highest quality education.
I am thrilled to begin my seventeenth year in education and am excited to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success. Over the past sixteen years, I have served in a variety of educational positions, primarily with the El Rancho Unified School District. Some of the roles include classroom teacher, District Resource Teacher, and Categorical Programs Coordinator. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Cal State Long Beach.
Along with staff, I will work hard to continue the tradition of success established at Moffitt by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff and community partners. I am confident that together, we will be able to provide a quality education that enables students to become productive, responsible, and college and career ready citizens.
As a reminder, the first day of school is Wednesday, August 17, 2016. School begins at 7:55 a.m. Also, please note that every Wednesday, including the first day of school, is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:40 p.m. Class rosters will be posted outside the school on the MPR door on Tuesday, August 16th after 5:00 p.m.
This year will be exciting, busy, and hopefully very rewarding for all of our students. We want you to join us in making school a great experience, as parents are a vital part of the educational process. We cannot be successful without your help and support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have to make this a great year. I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
